The Ak-Alaha is one of the remotest and mysterious rivers of The Altai. The river flows down the Ukok plateau. The valley is full of archaeological sites. Only Bertek complex which is situated on the left bank of the river includes 63 asynchronous archaeological sites: burials, separately situated burial mounds, complex of religious worship, honor rolls, petroglyphs. It is mountain area Bertek near which burial mound of the worldwide famous the Princess of Ukok was founded.
The lack of populated localities and any civilization, wonderful pristine wilderness of the Altai, excellent fishing, powerful and interesting rapids- all these will leave deep impression.
The key rapids – Lom, Spagetti, Zavalny, Svetlana, Azartny. Rafting ends near Jazator village – one of the remotest populated locality in Altai.

TOUR DESCRIPITION:

DURATIONPROGRAM
The 1st day Meeting at the airport or at the railroad station. Transportation by bus Barnaul – Aktash, distance 600 km, trip takes about 10 hours. The road goes through the famous Chuysky Highway, one can admire a glorious landscapes of the Altai mountains, the most beautiful valleys of the Bia and Chuya. The route goes through two picturesque Seminsky and Chike-Taman passes. Several breaks for lunch and in Srostki village, homeland of V. Shukshin, are provided. Camping on the banks of the Chuya river. Overnight at tourist camps is optional.
The 2nd day An early Transportation by off-road truck Ural. Transportation Aktash – Kosh-Agach – Teply Kluch (3100) – Ak-Alaha river. The road goes through the Chuyskaya steppe with marvelous views of snowy mountains of North-Chuyskiy and South-Chuyskiy ranges which will leave deep impression. Visit of radon springs. Late arrival to the start place – Ukok plateau. Camping.
The 3d day Preparing for the rafting. Excursion to the rock engravings by choice. Safety education. This day team is going to overcome calm reach of the Ak-Akalaha till the mouth of the Akkol river. Rafting takes about 2 hours. During this rafting team will learn a technology of raft control and will be ready for the serious obstacles of the Ak-Akaha.
The 4th day This day team is going to overcome the first serious rapids of the river. Lom rapid – vertical 2 meters waterfall with the powerful stream to the left rock, and this will be the first challenge for team. Next rapid 90 degrees – ancone of the river which needs well coordinated team work for maneuver. Overnight on the picturesque bank of a crystal stream.
The 5th day Excellent fishing, camp, banya. Examine of the next rapid – Zavalny. Walking to a lovely mountain lake (4km).
The 6th day Rafting to the mouth of the Kara-Alaha river. Passing the Zavalny and Spagetti rapids. Spagetti is one of the key and beautiful rapids of the journey. The rapid is very long with powerful fall up to 2 meters high. The mouth of Kara-Alaha is one of the best places for fishing in Altai.
The 7th day Rafting to the Svetlana rapid. Busy day, passing powerful riffles and rapids Tuz, Trepach. This day will leave you unforgettable emotions.
The 8th day From this day you have an opportunity to enjoy picturesque views of South-Chuyskiy Range and the main peak IIktu. There are only the most difficult rapids of the river – Svetlana and Azartny to overcome. Passing of these rapids depends on skills of the team and also on the water level of the river!
The 9th day Aktash village. Farewell dinner. Banya. Overnight at tourist camps is optional.
The 10th day Transportation to Barnaul.

Personal equipment

Each participant should have sports bag, shoes and wetsuit for the rafting, windproof suit, jogging suit, raincoat, a couple of T-shirts, thermal underwear, sweater, jogging shoes, three - four pairs of socks, caps, sunglasses, swimsuit, shorts or tights, personal hygiene items, cameras, torch, specific medications, etc.

Notes

  • It is an expeditionary journey, participants stay at a different campsite each night.
  • Professional Cooking is provided. Only fresh vegetables are used.
  • Raft, equipment, camping (fire pits, tents, tables) are provided by guides.
  • Reconnaissance of rapids, providing of insurance and safety, rescue operation are performed by guides
  • One can lease necessary additional equipment – wetsuit, shoes for rafting.
  • Satellite-link communication and radio set are provided
  • During the trip carrying of load and equipment down the river bank is available, depending on weather conditions and skills of group
  • The schedule of the tour can be changed in accordance with group requests
